Mikey Havoc — real name Michael Roberts — first appeared on-screen as a pair of disembodied lips, on short-lived music show Frenzy. But he really began making his mark in 1997 in the company of sidekick Jeremy Wells, via eclectic shows Havoc, Havoc and Newsboy's Sell-out Tour and numerous follow-ups. The shows saw him blending genres, mixing interviews and humour and doing the occasional dance move. Havoc began as a bFM radio DJ, and lead singer of band Push Push, before his first gig as TV host on the short-lived local version of MTV. He has also hosted reprised versions of Top Town and Treasure Island.
Monumental television doesn't come necessarily from planning. It's right place, right time, right approach and then delivering it in a way that nobody else does. Mikey Havoc, in an interview with The Sunday Star-Times
