Peter Williams

Peter Williams worked continuously in broadcasting for half a century, after starting in radio as a teen. In 1979 he joined TV One as a sports show host and commentator, and went on to present from the Olympics and the Rugby World Cup. In the mid 1990s the longtime cricket fan began a move into news; he went on to read the news on both Breakfast and prime time weekend bulletins on TV One, before moving back to radio in 2019. 

Breakfast producer Claire Watson, who has been a colleague of Williams for 20 years, says he has a great news brain, is smart, incisive and outspoken ... she also says he has mana and that's not something that can be cultivated. Writer Greg Bruce in Canvas (The NZ Herald), 30 April 2016
