More than 140,000 New Zealanders served in World War ll; over 11,000 of them lost their lives. The war was near as well as far. The Pacific was a major part of the battle, and American soldiers were stationed in New Zealand from 1942. Published on 15 August 2020 to mark the 75th anniversary of VJ (Victory over Japan) Day, The World War ll Collection serves as an on-screen remembrance. Archivist Clive Sowry writes here about some unsung names: the Kiwi cameramen who captured the war on film.
