Scott Wills began his screen career in the early 1990s, with appearances in soap Shortland Street and short films Permanent Wave, The Hole and Ouch. In 2000 he was nominated for two acting awards (one for Ouch and the other for his supporting part in romantic comedy Hopeless) before winning an NZ Film Award for movie Stickmen. Wills followed it with a run of television performances — including Interrogation and Doves of War — and his second movie award, for Apron Strings.
In this ScreenTalk interview, Wills talks about:
..she also has a really deep sense of vulnerability . . . she showed that a couple of times on very small occasions during the film, and during her direction of me. And moments like that are really deeply affecting, and you know that your director is engaged, and they are willing to give you a little bit of who they are and what they want . . . it sort of really motivates you to do the like — to give a little bit of yourself and open yourself up and become really vulnerable for that moment.– Scott Wills on Apron Strings director Sima Urale
