In this first episode of 1980s TV series An Age Apart, the twice widowed Alice (played by Bridget Armstong) welcomes her estranged 65-year-old brother Walter (English actor Deryck Guyler) into her Auckland home, after he arrives from England. Alice's son Joe (Jason Pirihi) is eager to meet his uncle, but Walter's negative reaction to Joe's Māori blood causes tension. Joe challenges Walter, and they discover something in common. The series was directed and produced by the prolific Tony Holden (Gliding On, sketch show A Week of It).
