Te reo Māori news and current affairs show Aukaha highlights stories from the central North Island.  In this episode from October 2021, Māori rugby mourns the loss of promising young rugby player Sean Wainui. Then Māori leaders voice resistance as New Zealand's borders begin to reopen following COVID-19, as Māori remain vulnerable with lower rates of vaccination. Te Aroha o Waiariki replaces the cancelled national hockey tournament, uniting regional hockey teams in their shared passion for sport, reo, and whānau. Plus Black Power whānau in Rotorua organise a sporting day, celebrating unity and well-being.
