Fraser - John Clarke interview

Television (Excerpts) – 1994

This episode of current affairs show Fraser is dedicated to the debate around New Zealand and Australia doing away with the Queen as Head of State, and changing the royal honours system. Interviewing John Clarke by satellite, Ian Fraser asks about the Australian mood regarding republicanism. The ever droll Clarke feels Australia is "increasingly interested in its own history", rather than its "received parental" history. In the second section he discusses poetry and a rumoured Fred Dagg comeback visit to Aotearoa. Clarke expresses gratitude for his early Kiwi career, but has no interest in "carrying on as if it's the old days".

Impossible.
– John Clarke reacts to Ian Fraser remembering a 1974 Fred Dagg interview as "frivolous"
