Got the Ju

'Got the Ju' was an early single for Wellington-born rockers Weta. First appearing on 1999 EP Natural Compression, it was later included on their sole album, 2000’s platinum-selling Geographica. The black and white video is directed by prolific music video virtuoso Reuben Sutherland (who won an award for Shihad's My Mind's Sedate). Sutherland captures the band playing an Auckland concert. The video goes for a rough-edged, film running through the projector look, overlaid with road trip imagery.  Combined with the song’s looping riffs and vocal tracks, the overall effect is near hypnotic.

It’s like being under a microscope in there and it was a really good learning experience. Everything changes in the studio.
