Silver Ferns star Temepara Bailey (née George) travels to the Indian Himalayas with Intrepid Journeys for her very first overseas holiday. Horse riding, Sikkimese dancing, witch doctor healing — and watching the sunrise —are all new experiences Bailey takes on as she wanders through the northern Indian states of Sikkim and Darjeeling. The hustle and bustle of markets reminds her of netball because "you get barged and pushed everywhere". It's in the quiet of the countryside where Bailey feels happiest, from the friendly locals to experiencing Buddhist and Hindu traditions.
Usually when I'm travelling with the team [the Silver Ferns], I don't have to worry about catching a taxi, or getting my bag. We usually have a manager that looks after all that kind of stuff. So this is all about me and how I'm going to survive by myself, without my team there to help me.– Temepara Bailey on travelling on her own around India, at the start of the show
