As humans, we strive for love and happiness. But for shy and anxiety-ridden robot Charlie — living in a post-apocalyptic world, awash with rubble and litter — it's even harder to find that special someone. When he stumbles across Lisa, a flirty (though slightly run-down) computer, a hot date is on the cards. But are things moving too quickly for the nervous Charlie? Made for the 2016 48Hours film competition by the Bork! team, led by animator Sam Prebble, LOVE.EXE took out first place in Wellington and third place nationally. The animated rom-com also won the national award for Best Animation.
...this absolutely f***ing amazing film plays like something you would showreel to Pixar and get hired for on the spot ... this might be a huge call but this is possibly the best 48Hours film I have ever seen.– Veteran 48Hours reviewer 'steelpotato' (aka Dave Brough), on the 48Hours website
