Piercing - The Hole Story

Television (Excerpts) – 2002

M
Mature

This documentary examines the world of body piercing, from the everyday to the extreme. In these excerpts body piercer and suspensionist David van der Camp suggests that people pierce their bodies for three reasons: aesthetics, their ego, or to enhance their sexuality. Varying views about piercing are expressed, from fans to those who find it intimidating. Dave explains his love for the art, before bungy jumping with metal hooks piercing the skin on his back. Piercing - The Hole Story screened on TV3's Inside New Zealand documentary slot. Warning: some scenes may not be suitable for the squeamish.

Piercing's done for, I think, three reasons. One's ego, one's for aesthetic, one’s for sexual. And I think often those three reasons can be fused together.
– Body piercer and suspensionist David van der Camp
