Comedian Mike King faces a stand-up gig like no other when he has to take shelter from an attack on an Afghanistan air base. A siren indicating 'indirect fire' drives a terrified King, his film crew and the American defence force audience into a concrete shelter in Bagram. This one-off documentary sees King visiting Afghanistan to perform for troops and talk to Kiwi soldiers in Kabul, Bagram and Bamyan about helping rebuild and provide security in the war-torn country. He also meets dapper locals and an eagle-eyed American soldier, who teaches him how to spot bombs and car bombers.
I’d say everyday there’s an American soldier who’s killed.– NZ Army liaison Major Sholto Stephens
