The work of artist John Reynolds takes in painting, photography, clothes, tattooing and landscaping. Director Shirley Horrocks frames this 65-minute Artsville documentary as a series of questions. The answers reflect Reynold's exuberant personality, his strong family life, his sense of humour, and his adventurous art-making. Following a year in Reynolds' life, the film observes him as he works on a wide variety of artworks, from large scale paintings for the Sydney Biennale, to designs on a book shop window, and a swanndri for designer Karen Walker. He also takes time out to appear in an episode of bro'Town.
With a young family particularly there is no time, there is never enough time. So you make work on the kitchen table, you make work when you can ... I'm lucky I'm a full-time artist I suppose, but you have to fit around the clamour of a young family and their demands.– John Reynolds
