In New Zealand media, branded 'stings' are displayed at the end of funded content to show that public funds have been invested in that content. Over its 30-year existence, Te Māngai Pāho has commissioned three stings, each reflecting the evolution of the funding environment. The first, Toitū, was produced by long-standing production company Cinco Cine. The second, He Mea Tautoko, was commissioned from director Tearepa Kahi in 2002 to recognise the impending arrival of Māori Television (now Whakaata Māori). Pango produced the third, Ko Te Reo Te Take, in 2022. The animated sting embodies the whakapapa of te reo Māori, and changes in technology and the media landscape.
A final pulse of light represents the convergence of te reo and technology into one space. Tihei Mauriora!– Te Māngai Pāho Style Guide on the Ko Te Reo Te Take sting
