The Book Show - Series One

Television (Full Length Episodes) – 2006

Hosted by novelist Emily Perkins, The Book Show brings together readers and writers to celebrate New Zealand literature. In each episode, Emily Perkins leads a discussion panel to review the featured book of the week. As part of the 'Finlay's Casebook' segment, journalist and writer Finlay MacDonald then makes a house call to an esteemed New Zealand writer, including CK Stead, Joy Cowley and Lloyd Jones. Then Perkins sits down for a one-on-one discussion with a writer about books that have provided creative inspiration  both now, and as children. Check out all of season one's guests and books in this episode guide, plus some choice quotes from the show.

Well I’m working, yes, and yes I seem to be okay. No reason to stop . . . Not while you feel you’ve got another book to write, or another poem to write. And I don't enjoy the idea of stopping, I enjoy the idea of keeping on.
– Writer CK Stead on continuing to work at age 73, in episode three
