Under the Mountain was a sci-fi television show that terrified a generation of children. Inspired by the Maurice Gee novel of the same name, the eight-part series screened in 1981. It was innovative in its use of special effects, including creepy underground tunnels and humanoid aliens changing into giant slugs. The head designer of the show, Rob Gillies, and actor Roy Billing join Jesse Mulligan to discuss how it was made.
