Emily Barclay went up for her first screen award at age 16. The acclaim really began to flow after she played a troubled teen in 2004 movie In My Father's Den. She won further awards in Australia for small screen cop drama The Silence, and her star turn as a manipulative solo mother in movie Suburban Mayhem. Alongside her work in Australian theatre, Barclay continues to balance screen roles on both sides of the Tasman — including a Qantas Award-nominated turn in Kiwi adoption drama Piece of My Heart, and 2020 Rose Matafeo comedy Baby Done. She also did two seasons on boundary-pushing Aussie comedy Please Like Me.
Emily is very intelligent, super sweet, educated and a sensitive soul ... She's mercurial and playful and elusive. And she's not just a good actress, she's an exceptional actress. Suburban Mayhem director Paul Goldman on Emily Barclay, The Sydney Morning Herald, 27 January 2010
