Irene Wood was showing her versatility in the early days of Kiwi television. By 1968 she had already been on screen presenting children's shows, singing, and playing Katherine Mansfield in TV play The White Gardenia. Since then Wood has acted in murder mystery Slipknot, Shortland Street, movie Rest for the Wicked, and won fans playing Nan for five seasons of Go Girls. In 2022, she won an NZTV Award after co-starring in The Pact.
Acting is a compulsive search for truth and approval. It's like rushing into someone's arms in the belief they’ll open them to embrace and hold you tight for just a moment. However, this double exposure of self and instinct carries no guarantee that they will. The trust is childlike and perhaps a little foolish, but without it we can trip or fall somewhere mid leap!
