Jack Tame

Presenter, Reporter

An internship on Breakfast while at Christchurch Broadcasting School led to Jack Tame’s debut on One News as a 19-year-old reporter. From 2012, he spent five years as TVNZ's New York correspondent, working on stories from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting to prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. Tame has covered the Rugby World Cup for CNN, and the Rio Olympics for TVNZ. For two-and-a-half years he co-hosted Breakfast with Hilary Barry. In April 2019 Tame took over from Corin Dann as host of current affairs and political show Q+A. He also hosts the Saturday morning slot on Newstalk ZB.

It was a real rush, deeply satisfying, but it also felt like I'd got away with murder. I'd beaten the system, somehow usurped the vetting and the voice classes ... I think I appreciated that it was a bit rich to have a 19-year-old reporting on the six o'clock news. It felt audacious. Jack Tame on joining One News, The NZ Herald, 2 February 2013
