John Tui's acting slate has included New Zealand soaps, Hollywood blockbusters and everything in between. Tui grew up in Manurewa in a family of Tongan descent, and gained a Bachelor of Performing Arts from Unitec in Auckland. He broke into the industry on shows like Power Rangers, Shortland Street and Go Girls, before moving more into film work. Tui has acted in American films like Battleship, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, and had lead roles in Kiwi movies Savage and action comedy The Legend of Baron T'oa. He went on to play Afa Anoa'i in Young Rock, a series based on the life of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
