Josh McKenzie joined the cast of Shortland Street in 2013 as ambitious executive assistant Nate Clark. He went on to play the boy in TV series Girl vs Boy, and All Black Dan Carter in telemovie The Kick. Then he began a memorable turn in TV's Filthy Rich, as the dodgy son of a wealthy family. Back in 2010, McKenzie had won an Aotearoa Film Award for Outstanding Feature Film Debut, for The Hopes and Dreams of Gazza Snell. By 2021 he was busy on both sides of the Tasman. Aside from sci-fi series La Brea, he starred in dystopian feature Northspur and romance Destination Love. He was also winning awards as co-creator of web series Boyfriend.
Acting is in our blood. It's something we've always done in the same way that some families have sport. Josh McKenzie's mother Angela Vaughan, in an interview with Stuff, 18 April 2016
