Alice Snedden grew up in a "big, rambling house with an open-door policy" in Ponsonby, and as a law student bartended at Auckland's iconic Basement Theatre. It was there she first began stand-up comedy, the path that led to her prolific screen career. Snedden was head writer on comedy shows Jono and Ben, Funny Girls and Golden Boy (which she co-created), as well as as fronting web series Alice Snedden's Bad News. She spent time in London to write and direct romantic comedy Starstruck with longtime collaborator Rose Matefeo, then returned home to co-create series Double Parked and produce more episodes of Bad News.
I think in serious issues there's always room for a bit of levity. The darkest issues are usually the funniest. Alice Snedden on her show Alice Snedden'sBad News, Radio New Zealand, 10 September 2022
