Barry Duffield is an English born, Australian raised and New Zealand based filmmaker who acts, writes and sometimes directs. After studying at Auckland's South Seas Film and Television School, Duffield cut his teeth in Australia as an actor, before returning to Aotearoa to appear in such shows as Young Hercules, Xena: Warrior Princess, AFK and most prominently, as the Germanic warrior Lugo in Spartacus. As a filmmaker, Duffield wrote, directed and produced the short film The Meeting, and is working on feature-length motor sports documentary Full Throttle. He also writes graphic novels.
I think that a good director should be blooded in all facets of the filmmaking process. Hell, I'd be the coffee maker just to be on set. This is one business where it can pay to be a jack of all trades. Barry Duffield in an interview with website Whoosh, 2004
