At the age of 14, Beth Allen acted in the first of 260 episodes of sci-fi hit The Tribe. Five years later, after completing a Bachelor of Arts in film and history at Auckland University, she was set to try for an acting career in Sydney. Shortly before departure date, Allen got offered the role of Brooke Freeman on Shortland Street, a part specifically written with her in mind. Allen spent six years playing the manipulative doctor. Her television work also includes legal drama Dear Murderer, the Power Rangers franchise, and short-lived fantasy series The Legend of William Tell. She has also produced plays for Auckland's Basement Theatre.
I don't remember ever wanting to do anything else, so I just said to mum 'I'd quite like to do this and I think I should go get an agent.' ... I was not all that easy to dissuade. Beth Allen in a Sunday News interview, 9 August 2010
