Award-winning cinematographer Dale McCready started as a lighting assistant on Shortland Street in the early 1990s, and soon graduated to work as a camera operator and cinematographer. In the early 2000s, McCready shot such local shows as Serial Killers, Being Eve and Maddigan's Quest, before working internationally. McCready was the cinematographer on 42 episodes of British fantasy show Merlin from 2008 to 2012, and has continued to work prolifically in the United Kingdom. Fantasy and science fiction series have been a theme of her career, with work on such major shows as The Witcher, Doctor Who and The Rising.
