Dave Cameron

Dave Cameron has been capturing New Zealand images and stories for over 25 years. He began his career as a rookie camera operator on a documentary for Zee Films. This led to work filming iconic TV series Shortland Street. Since then Cameron has become an award-winning freelance cinematographer, with numerous accolades, including competing against himself at the 2021 NZ Television Awards — and winning.

For me, being a cinematographer means having a relationship with light, a relationship with storytelling and a desire to delve deep into those stories. It’s also about a relationship with people — actors, directors, and collaborators, and the coming together of all those talents and skills to create something that will really affect an audience.
