Helen Bissett considers herself lucky to have had three distinct and diverse career paths: in music, television, and tourism. An initial career as an oboist led to her first job transition, as a stage manager for Yorkshire Television in England. The next two decades saw her working in television in a variety of production roles and locales.
My favourite role was being a producer — that’s what I enjoyed best. I think I’m just a bit of a control freak. I’m also very good with money, so I think it was a good place for me to be: keeping an eye on the whole creative and practical process, and making sure that things came in on time.
