British-born Jane Galletly began writing for New Zealand television at a time when female scriptwriters were few and far between. Long drawn to the everyday lives of working people, she devised and wrote award-winning dramas (Moynihan, Pioneer Women), and worked on hours of classic soaps, from Close to Home to EastEnders. Galletly passed away in December 2017.
I never considered myself a ‘Writer’ with a big 'w'— never. I was a scriptwriter. I was damn lucky. Jane Galletly
