Born and raised in the Czech Republic, producer Jani Alexander studied social work at university, with her "interest in people" eventually leading her to a career making televison documentaries. After first entering the screen industry in London, she relocated to New Zealand and began working in production for Cream Media in 2003 — staying on at Greenstone when they acquired Cream in 2010. At Greenstone, Alexander moved from strength to strength, becoming a producer of such long-running observational documentary shows as Border Patrol and Dog Squad, and acclaimed series like Women of Pike River.
