Born in the United Kingdom and raised in Africa, Jennifer Bush began her professional life in Europe, before moving to Aotearoa in 1985. The filmmaker and teacher is a longtime collaborator of filmmaker Gaylene Preston; she helped produce Preston's breast cancer documentary Titless Wonders and Te Papa exposé Getting to Our Place. In 1996, Bush worked on series Immigrant Nation, and directed episode Searching for Paradise. Bush is also an educator in French, and in 2020 was awarded the title of Member of the Order of Academic Palms for her promotion of the French language.
