Judy Cleine was seen by a large share of New Zealand's television audience after she snared the only sizable female role in 1977 historical epic The Governor. Although she appeared in multiple episodes, Cleine shone most in second instalment 'No Way to Treat a Lady', which charts how Eliza Spencer's intelligence first won Governor Grey over, before she confronted him over his many affairs. Aside from The Governor and 1976 TV thriller Epidemic, Cleine has performed mainly at Christchurch's Court Theatre (including playing Kate Sheppard in O! Temperance!). After moving further south, she reviewed books for The Southland Times.
Do you expect to play the wronged husband and be taken seriously? One of Judy Cleine's choicer pieces of dialogue, while playing Eliza Grey in episode two of 1977 historical epic The Governor
