Broadcaster Mike Puru made his start in 1995, as a radio DJ on The Edge. In 2002 he began co-hosting Flipside, a youth-oriented current affairs show in which TV viewers were encouraged to text in their opinions. Puru went on to present on home shopping channel Yes Shop. In 2015 he hosted the first of two seasons on the NZ version of dating show The Bachelor — and announced he was leaving The Edge after 20 years.
I really want to see the show become a voice for the youth rather than a reflection of youth. Mike Puru on Flipside, The Dominion Post, 4 March 2003
