Orlando Stewart has appeared in various mockumentary series (including Wayne Anderson) as a reporter, talent manager — and as a 'marketing director' handing out pizza flyers in Pakuranga. As he says, “it’s kind of fun blurring the lines between yourself and a character”. One of these was oddball series Rural Drift, which Stewart wrote and starred in. In 2015 he directed feature-length documentary Sonics from Scratch with Simon Ogston, about experimental artist Philip Dadson. He also co-directed award-winning Bob Marley series When Bob Came. Stewart's work as producer includes rural drama Bellbird and thriller The Rule of Jenny Pen.
...nothing Orlando Stewart does is normal. He was dementedly brilliant as the manager in the series Wayne Anderson: Singer of Songs and he has that same psycho humour. NZ Herald reviewer Deborah Hill Cone, on Orlando Stewart's show Rural Drift, 26 December 2010
