Raymond McGrath
Children's writer and illustrator Raymond McGrath has worked in animation for over 20 years. His directing credits include Flux Animation kids shows Puzzle Inc (which he created) and Tamatoa the Brave Warrior. He was animation director for war epic 25 April, the first animated feature made in Aotearoa. His self-penned music and animation has been awarded Best NZ Children's Music Video three times: It's Not a Monster, It's Me! (2012, based on his book of the same name), Monstomping (2016, inspired by another McGrath book) and 2019's Sprinkle a Little Sunshine. He also presented two seasons of making art slot Artoonz, on What Now?.
If you get an idea — whatever it is — be fearless and go for it. Build, paint, sing, draw, write then rewrite, study, learn, practice, curse and fight with it until it is done.
