After completing his Bachelor of Science (with a major in geography) at Canterbury University, Richard Lord got a diploma in digital post production. Since then he has shown his editing talents on a number of feature-length documentaries. After 2010 environmental doco Water Whisperers Tangaroa, he won a NZ Television Award for Christchurch quake chronicle When a City Falls (working with fellow editor Ken Sparks). Lord has also shared edited credits on acclaimed Antarctic doco The Last Ocean and movie Cliffs of Freedom, which is set during the Greek War of Independence. Lord also cut 2014 music documentary Into the Void.
I love the editing process. I'm a slave to it. There's always something to learn and refine and there's nothing more thrilling than screening the finished product to an audience. That's the part I look forward to the most. That, and an endless supply of tea, coffee and chocolate throughout the edit. Richard Lord
