Auckland-born Richard 'Dickie' Wilkins is an Australian television veteran. After abandoning plans to become a teacher, Wilkins signed a record deal under the name Richard Wilde, and introduced children's programmes on South Pacific Television. In 1980 he headed to Australia, to further his music career. In 1987, after a stint in radio marketing, he began a 30+ year run on Australian television's Nine Network. In that time he has been a presenter on the Aussie version of MTV, and interviewed a host of musicians and actors on morning show Today. In 1997 Wilkins returned to New Zealand to host a Kiwi version of game show Celebrity Squares.
