Producer Te Ataraiti Waretini grew up with an artistic family in Rotorua, before studying television production at Auckland's University of Technology. From there, she moved from strength to strength in TV, working in production roles on shows at home (Marae DIY, Maui's Hook) and in London (Rich House, Poor House). In 2021, she became the Managing Director and co-owner of Kura Productions, taking over from company founder Quinton Hita. Through Kura, Waretini has held producer roles on te reo Māori shows Ahikāroa and Te Pāmu Kūmara. Waretini is also an accomplished artist in the traditional Māori skill of weaving, or raranga.
