Helping out friend Niki Caro on Whale Rider prompted artist Tim Worrall to focus on the screen industry. After providing feedback on Caro's hit film script, the Elam Art School graduate returned to university to study script writing. Following his Masters of Arts in 2007, Worrall has gone on to write and direct award-winning short Tits on a Bull, write for teen series This is Piki and direct on comedy show Only in Aotearoa. In 2020 he wrote and directed rugby drama Head High. Worrall was one of the writers and directors of indigenous anthology feature We Are Still Here, and was the writer for New Zealand wars feature Ka Whawhai Tonu.
