Virginie Le Brun began her screen career with a six year run as a presenter on music channel Juice TV, under her nickname Verge. After time on children's show What Now?, she made her mark on Shortland Street in 2009 when she began playing Doctor Gabrielle Jacobs, the head of surgery. Her portrayal of the neurosurgeon with Asperger’s Syndrome won praise from both the show’s fans, and organisation Autism New Zealand. Le Brun has also worked on-screen as a stunt performer. The daughter of winemakers Adele and Daniel Le Brun, she went on to become sales director for family winery No. 1 Family Estate.
Inadvertently just because of the way her personality is, she is just going to rub someone up the wrong way...she is always great fun, for that reason. I love reading the script and seeing who we are offending today. Virginie Le Brun on her Shortland Street character of Doctor Gabrielle Jacobs, The Dominion Post, 8 March 2011
