Yvette Parsons

Actor

Actor, writer and musician Yvette Parsons grew up among 'old souls'; her parents ran a private nursing hospital in Herne Bay. She left for England as a teen, took acting classes and played keyboards for Goth band Dead Can Dance. She returned to Auckland and completed an arts degree at AUT. Specialising in kooky characters Parsons has acted in big screen  comedies What We Do In the Shadows, Nude Tuesday and sci-fi send up Night Freaks). Her TV credits include Shortland Street, Outrageous Fortune and receptionist Sheree Pivac in web series The Educators. In 2010 The NZ Herald named her solo play Silent Night as Best Play.

I almost prefer (acting) to being myself, I just love exploring, you get license to almost be someone else and feel what that's like. It's really amazing, I love it. Yvette Parsons in an interview with Kim Hill, Radio New Zealand, 1 April 2023
