Neglected ponies, hidden pigs and a surprise delivery of puppies are all in a day's work in this debut episode of Animal House. The series follows SPCA animal inspectors tackling animal welfare at the coalface. Called out to a rural Auckland property, Inspector Tristin Wilcox discovers two emaciated ponies. At the same owner's grazing paddock, her team finds more underfed horses than the SPCA can adequately house. There's a happy outcome for two orphaned kittens when Inspector John Heremaia finds them a surrogate Mum at a local cattery; and charges look likely for the owner of a wild piglet found restrained in a car boot.
