Ardijah started life as a covers band in Auckland in 1978. Two years later, 15-year-old singer Betty-Anne joined after bass player Ryan Monga spotted her at a nightclub talent quest. (The pair went on to marry). By the mid 80s, Ardijah were writing their own tracks. Their sweet self-described "Poly Fonk" sound staked its place in New Zealand's musical landscape, with popular tracks like 'Time Makes a Wine', 'Jammin' and 'Watchin' U'. Numerous accolades and albums have followed, and Ardijah have continued to tour their brand of contemporary Aotearoa r'n'b.
