Blindspott got impressive airplay with their first single, 2001's 'Nil By Mouth'. Despite skepticism from student and commercial radio towards the band's mix of hip hop and heavy guitars, their self-titled album debuted at number one. The feat was repeated in 2006 with End the Silence, which dumped the DJs and hip hop beats. Blindspott disbanded the following year, then reformed without drummer Shelton Woolright (who joined the largely-English based I Am Giant). To avoid a lengthy legal battle, the remaining members changed their name to Blacklistt. In 2018 Woolright rejoined, and they reverted to the Blindspott name.
