Pioneers of early Kiwi electronica, The Body Electric formed from the remnants of punk band The Steroids. The Wellingtonians became one of the first electro-dance acts to succeed on alternative radio. Their debut single 'Pulsing' spent four months in the Top 50. It helped lay the foundations for an explosion in the Kiwi mid-1980s club scene, but the group didn't hang around to see the era through — they disbanded after one album, Presentation and Reality (1983). Alan Jansson went on to produce music, playing a big hand in the creation of OMC's mega-hit 'How Bizarre'. Garry Smith has gone on to manage concerts for the NZ Symphony Orchestra.
