Bread Winner

Short Film (Full Length) – 2015

Les Miserables relocates to downtown Auckland in this musical about obsession, rage and revenge. Team Chess Club won Best Film and Best Script at the 2015 48Hours film competition. One day in 2013 a man reaches for a loaf of Vogel's on a supermarket shelf, only to see it taken by the mysterious Harper Harrison (Shortland Street's Sam Bunkall). Hell-bent on revenge, he tracks Harrison down and enacts his plan. The team all contributed to the West End-worthy lyrics, and director Tomas Cottle's sophisticated shots of Auckland at night turn a story about "stolen" bread into an epic and ridiculous noir comedy.

Don't pretend you don't remember! Countdown, aisle three, December second, 2013.
– The Avenger (Barnaby Fredric) faces off against Harper Harrison (Sam Bunkall)
