A comedic current affairs show with a Māori perspective, Brown Eye ran for one season in 2015. The New Zealand flag referendum — a major topic of debate that year — is the focus of this first episode. Host Nathan Rarere provides a quick history lesson on the flag, before being joined by panelists, comedian Mike King and campaigner for a NZ Republic, Savage (the production designer, not the musician). Presenter Jamaine Ross then canvasses public opinion, with hilarious results. Other features include cute kids speaking te reo, a quick trip to small-town Waharoa and a cameo by Taika Waititi (one of the show's writers).
This week in sports news, nothing happened, amazingly. Nothing to report, so we don't need to spend half an hour of the news hour talking about people playing games.– Taika Waititi handles the sports news
