Vocalist Fiona McDonald left the Headless Chickens in 1995 and solo single Bury Me recalls her former band's sound; brooding beats bursting into guitar-heavy choruses. McDonald sings about a love affair tipping over into obsession and control. Things get creepy early, with the line "I saw you drink my bathwater..." The video revels in this dark, accusatory mood, with pulsating lights playing over McDonald as she crouches down between metal filing cabinets, suggesting an office romance gone off the rails. Jonathan King also directed the video for 'Breathe', another single from McDonald's 1999 album A Different Hunger.
Making a solo album is a difficult but rewarding experience. It has taken me a long time to come out of working in bands to reach this point. I’ve had a lot of amazing collaborators and support on A Different Hunger but it’s ultimately going to sit there with just my name on it, and that’s incredible but scary too.– Fiona McDonald on her debut solo album A Different Hunger, Muzic.net website
