The down-home Cameron Petley (Tūhoe, Ngāti Ranginui) speaks in both English and te reo Māori on his cooking show. A fan favourite from MasterChef New Zealand, Cam tours local markets, dines with whānau, and provides tips for tasty kai. In this first episode, he visits Avondale Market with Dead Lands actor Lawrence Makoare, where they meet market celebrities and pick-up mouth-watering fresh produce. They head home to shuck mussels, talk fusion food (mussel donuts!), and cook Makoare’s KFC ("kai for cuzzies") fritters. In return, Cam prepares a duck and watercress salad, making creative use of oranges.
