Masterminded by ex Shortland Street actor Karl Burnett, feature-length comedy Captain Amazingly Incredible and the Space Vampires from the Evil Planet parodies the clichés of heroes and villains — including evil masterminds in ridiculous costumes and screaming heroines. A detective (Burnett) and a superhero (Roy Snow) set off into space to battle a madman who plans to turn Earth into a "vampire-infested hellhole". The villain's children are played by Burnett's Shortland St colleague Claire Chitham, and Grant Roa (Whale Rider). The lo-fi film features comic strip-style visuals and a fart-powered action finale.
