Social media web series Hahana celebrates te reo Māori and the creativity of rangatahi Māori with a medley of comedy and education. In the Matariki special, Hahana regulars Judah Metu-Teaukura, Scarlett-Manaia Te Aramakutu-Morgan, Chaeli Manuel and other regulars do the viral Matariki dance, and introduce some Matariki basics — including finding the star cluster, and the Hautapu ceremony. In the second clip, Hahana showcases singer-songwriter Makayla Mainini, who won TikTok attention for singing in te reo Māori. Makayla opens up about navigating her mixed Māori, American, and Italian identity online.
